Over 20 years ago, my grandmother passed away. Just a few years ago my grandfather passed away. My grandfather was the type to never let go of the things he owned. One of the rooms in the house (despite having an old termite nest), was still very much alive. With art. With my grandmothers presences.

While she took a journey to the stars, all of her sketches, paintings and books were all left behind. There were acrylic paintings on boards and watercolour artwork. I was able to take about 4 sketchpads full or art, (mostly pencil of the Australian outback).

I knew I wanted to do a series. A way to connect to her. A way to finish what she started. I had the idea many moons ago to do a series of her sketches and turn them into paintings. On the left was on of the loose piece of sketches in the collection. On the right is mine. Using contour sketching, I recreated it.

I asked myself a few questions when I draw this.

What message was she trying to convey in her art?

Did she plan to turn this into a painting?

Why did she create art?

Each one of these sketches started of as an idea, her idea. And I intend to finish them and turn it into a 10 piece collection of acrylic paintings. Hopefully to showcase in a gallery.

I just stepped on a bee and I'm waiting for Pizza

So I have decided to avoid social media website and start a blog like I'm back in yesteryear.

I did in fact step on a bee whilst looking at our mozzy problem. Lucky my partner came to my rescue when I shrieked. The mozzies seem to like the gutters by the twenties? Who knows what they are sucking. But I sprayed them because they keep sneaking inside and it becomes a war between man and mozzy every night on the daily since like 5 days ago.

I have a cheese pizza on the way and my foot throbs.

Well, I will let you know how the pizza goes. Or not? Who knows. In the meantime I am watching a video called "Greed is Destroying the World" by Drew Gooden. Green is in fact destroying the world.
